About

Tim was born into music.  Growing up, vinyl was always spinning as mom and dad danced. While other kids were having trashcan lid gladiator wars; Tim and his friends were chasing the sounds of punk bands.  They’d sit for hours watching aspiring rock stars learn how to play Ramones and Black Flag Covers. Days always ended up at a local store dreaming of the day they would own shiny guitars.

Tim’s dad returned from work.  Looking stern he said, “follow me.” He took Tim to a store and told him to pick out anything he wanted.  Dad said, “you can play as loud as you like – as long as it’s the same station I’m listening to.”  This began a study of Texas Swing, Jazz, Blues, and Roots Country.

A chance meeting had Tim meeting road-worn professionals and mastering commercial music theory.  He was then allowed to hang after hours with blues legends.

Tim studied with George Stahl (Minnesota Orchestra), Pat Dawson (Bob Seger), John Grunke (MacPhail Center for the Arts).  In college, a professor discovered Tim’s ability to accurately recall notes.  Stephen Gabrielson suggested Tim hit the road of busses, planes, and hotels learning the ropes of the commercial entertainment business.

His timing, placement, and intentional style are highly influenced by Verdine White (Earth Wind and Fire), Leland Sklar (James Taylor), Mark King (Level 42), Wilson Jackson (BB King), Dean Dinning (Toad the Wet Sprocket) and Norm Stockton (Lincoln Brewster).

Regionally, he’s played and recorded with Midwest CMA nominated and winning artists:  Matt Graunke & the Crow River Rebellion, Poppa Bear Norton,  Jensen Sisters, MoeDell, RJ Graff, Chad Edwards Band, Javier Trejo, Mark Stone & the Dirty Country Band, Paul Esch, Mike Bruno, Ken Wannovich, Wynand Hansen, Russell Schmidt.  He has recorded on multiple recordings, played at countless churches, entertainment establishments, and public events.

MoeDell's "Hoppin Trains" is aired nationally on radio stations.  Poppa Bear Norton's 2023 recording "Country's Back in Town" is airing on broadcast FM radio.

Tim is passionate about the Bass and it shows in every performance.  Audiences know of his 7 String Bass, Electric Upright, and deep honest vocals.  His playing experience includes performing live music and playing bass guitar in 300 USA cities and 28 countries.
