How to Spotify MoeDell Recordings

I've been blessed to play on most of the MoeDell Americana recordings.

If you're not into iTunes cult, there are some easy ways to locate the recordings.

Science Proves "It's All About the Bass"

There's a fun new research study that points to the fact that "bass is the shell to the taco."

New CD "Logan Drive"

When you get a chance, please take a minute to check out MoeDell "Logan Drive."

Mike Lardy did a fantastic job keeping the acoustic upright out of the way of the rest of the instrumentation.  We did all the arranging and tracking in one setting.

Moe's vocals and story lines are authentic and vulnerable.  Available on iTunes, CD Baby, Spotify and physical CD.

Common Roots Festival

Next year, make plans to visit the Common Roots Festival.  Anyone into the regional scene knows of St. Cloud.  The college community produces some very taleneted original acts.

Quality venues are all walking distance to each other.  It's an ideal way to see multiple bands on the same night.

It was a rare opportunity to play a full evening of orignals from MoeDell's "Local" and upcomming "Logan Drive."

Recording - Luxemborg

I had the honor of recording in Luxumborg with Mike Lardy.  MoeDell should have a new album ready for college radio this fall.

All of the tracks were laid down with a carved European upright and 4 point inputs to the digital console.

Please check MoeDell.net for exact release dates, availability and events.

Acoustic Music Inspires Guitar Sales

There's an interesting article that discusses shift from electric guitars to acoustic guitars.  They point toward Taylor Swift as being the latest icon.

I'm very interested and happy that we have some very good quality local stores that work to make guitars cool again.

Best Patio List

We commonly get asked how to locate great Twin Cities patios.  I always suggest taking a road trip to Zorbaz in McGregor (great staff) OR one of the Cowboy Jacks.

Here's a list of what some other folks think.

Methodist Convention - House Band

I'm honored to be scheduled for the Methodist Annual Conference (Convention).  It should be fun as we'll only have to focus on excellence and material.

As it looks, I may need a dedicated tour bus, as will be playing multiple instruments over the week.  It should be a blast as we'll cover everything from current CCLI rotation material to traditional.

Chuck Bell is flying up from Georgia to do the leading.  We'll have to put a week's worth of material together in an afternoon.  Sounds like fun.

When you get a second, please visit Chuck's website.

Mystic Lake - Venue Opener

As a shift of gears, we played Mystic Lake Casino last weekend.  Compared to the standard rowdy  party goers, it was fun to play for a more sophisticated audience in a dinner club setting.   We were able to focus on original and more classic material.  The sound and light staff were incredible.

The upright made a rare public appearance. I rarely take this one out in public as it requires professional staff to amplify.

Tech Tip - Bridge Bar

My gig gear takes a ton of abuse.  One of the upright challenges during a gig is how/where to place the bridge.  It's simple.   Set the bridge in the correct position (by a luthier) then make a bridge bar.  First on cardboard, then out of a wood piece.

Reminder.. flat side of the bridge toward the end pin!
